❓Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check my band?
Your DisCo assigns your band based on hours of electricity supply to your feeder. Check your electricity bill or contact your DisCo customer service to confirm your band classification.
Why is my rate higher than my neighbour's?
Different bands have different rates. Even neighbours on different feeders can be in different bands. Also, customers using more than 50kWh/month pay the non-MD rate, while those under 50kWh pay the lifeline (subsidised) rate.
What is the lifeline tariff?
The lifeline tariff is a subsidised rate of ₦4/kWh for customers consuming 50kWh or less per month. It protects low-income households from high electricity costs.
When was the last tariff change?
The current tariff rates were set by NERC's Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO) in November 2025, effective December 7, 2025.
Can I switch to a different band?
You can't choose your band — it's determined by the infrastructure serving your area. However, if your supply hours don't match your band classification, you can file a complaint with NERC.
